Single Digit Syndrome

As I neared my 63rd birthday I often recollected upon the many experiences, places I have visited, and people I may never again encounter, or at least experience very few times in the future.  I have coined this term for myself as “The Single Digit Syndrome” (to be known as SDS). The obvious meaning is that I will have this experience less than ten times, ever!  SDS can be sensed at any age, but for me, it is happening with much more frequency now.
The Single Digit Syndrome can cause feelings of sadness.  Other times it is the cause for "Enjoying The Moment".  Single Digit Syndrome is the result of Single Digit Days, and Single Digit Events all of which eventually become the single digit one, then zero, even the number of our breaths. So enjoy each one!
As I further reflected upon the SDS I find that it has significantly increased my enjoyment and pleasure of everything.  As I do or see something, even the mundane, and if I think this could be one of the last times I will have the experience, then every sense is enhanced.  How does it look, how does it feel, how does it smell and sound? Perhaps even taste.  To further the enjoyment of these experiences, I found writing them down can bring the pleasure back many times over....so then why not do a blog?
So the intent of this blog is to share the Eastern Sierra Mountains.  I barely knew of their existence until the circumstances which led to us purchase a cabin in them.  We am now experiencing new sights, activities and learnings. This is what I want to write about here.
Also, during the last two years I have come across two quotes which have really spoken to me.  I think of these two quotes often as I come across new challenges and opportunities:
As Sonny says in the movie Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, “Everything will be all right in the end... if it's not all right then it's not yet the end.”
“You don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing”…George Bernard Shaw.

I keep reminding myself, enjoy every moment of every day, as this may be a single digit event!
