I am getting behind in my postings. A few weekends ago we were visited by our oldest son, his wife and young son. Weather was perfect and it was a weekend packed with enjoying the area. As I have stated in earlier posts any new family member who visits must make the trek to Two Stick [
Two Stick].
Little Byron made the trek on Grandpa's back. It was a great family adventure with seven of us plus Brody "the pup" making the journey.

One of the hikes took us to the river and much to our delight, we not only saw continued evidence of the beaver activity, we actually saw the beaver!!!! I now know where the little fellow calls home.
This past weekend it was just Mary and me. The weather was once again perfect and hikes were in order. Up and down the Wildrose Trail. Found another favorite tree. This lucky Jeffry Pine has grown huge, just a few feet below a natural spring, where the drought seemingly has had no impact, as it is continually enjoying a nice cool drink.

On the way back, I met a troop of Boy Scouts heading up. They were headed out for a week, which will eventually take them up to Menache Meadow then circling back to the Kennedy Meadows Campground in a week or so. It made me yearn to try and take the "ol' Beast" to Manache again this year [
Trip to Menache]
Sunday was a leisurely hike of two miles up the PCT from the campground to the bridge, where lunch was enjoyed with the song of the rippling waters of the South Fork of the Kern.

Our early morning return down Nine Mile was rewarded with the hills full of spring flowers. We stopped and took many pictures and we were amazed at the wonderful fragrance. I am always amazed at what nature can do in such an arid place. "..the hills are clothed with gladness" Psalm 65:12
A Perfect Close to Another perfect weekend, except of course, Not Long Enough
